Runway - Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and [Developer name] ("we", "us") about your use of the Runway app for iPhone and its widgets and share extension ("Runway"). By downloading or using Runway you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Runway.

1. What Runway is

Runway helps you work out a good time to buy the things you want. It takes the plan you give it — what you earn, the accounts you hold, what you owe, your bills and your wishlist — and projects forward to estimate when each thing on your list can be bought without leaving you short.

It is built to balance two things: buying on impulse the moment the money is there, which can leave you without a safety net, and saving far longer than you need to, which puts off something that would make you happy. To do that it suggests how to divide each paycheque, keeps back money for bills and a minimum cash balance, builds a safety net, pays down debt, and can ask you to wait a short cooling-off period before a larger purchase.

Runway is a planning tool. It does not connect to your bank, move money, make payments or buy anything on your behalf. Every figure in it comes from what you enter.

2. Not financial advice

Runway gives general information and estimates to help you think about your own money. It is not financial, investment, tax, credit, legal or accounting advice, and we are not a licensed financial adviser, planner or credit counsellor.

Projections are estimates, not promises. Dates, balances, scores and suggestions depend on the figures you enter and on assumptions that may not match what actually happens. Income changes, prices change, bills arrive early, and interest is charged the way your lender charges it, not the way Runway models it.
Tax figures are approximations. Take-home pay is estimated from tables built into the app for Canada and the United States, and from rough rates elsewhere. They are close enough to plan with; they are not your tax return, and they may be out of date.
The Financial Balance Score is a guide. It measures your plan against targets you set. It is not a credit score and says nothing about your creditworthiness.
The decisions are yours. Whether and when to buy something, pay a bill, move money or borrow is always your choice and your responsibility. Check important figures against your bank and lender, and speak to a qualified professional before making a significant financial decision.

3. Your information

Runway keeps your plan on your device. We do not run a server that stores it and we cannot see it. How we handle the small amount of information that may leave your device is explained in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Because your plan lives only on your device:

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter.
You are responsible for keeping a copy. Runway can save a copy of your plan as a file; if you delete the app, lose or reset your device, or restore it without a backup, your plan may be lost and we have no way to recover it.

4. Free and Runway Pro

Runway is free to download and use. The free version holds a complete plan for one want at a time, one account of each kind (cash, savings and credit card), up to two incomes, and unlimited bills.

Runway Pro is an optional paid upgrade. It currently adds an unlimited wishlist, any number of accounts and incomes, logging expenses as they happen, the Financial Balance Score, home screen widgets, and sharing your list without the Runway mark. We may add, change or remove Pro features over time. If a change materially reduces what an active subscription includes, we will tell you in the app.

Subscriptions

Runway Pro is offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, and a one-time Lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and length unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
Free trials. Where a free trial is offered, it becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Trials are available once per Apple Account. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings, or from Settings › Runway Pro in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. We cannot issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Apple will tell you in advance and, where the law or Apple's rules require it, ask for your consent before a higher price applies.
Restoring. Pro is tied to the Apple Account that bought it. Use Restore Purchases in the app to unlock it on another device signed in to the same account.

Lifetime

The Lifetime purchase unlocks Runway Pro with one payment for as long as we continue to offer and support Runway, without renewal charges. It is personal to the Apple Account that bought it and cannot be transferred.

If Pro ends

If your subscription ends or is refunded, nothing in your plan is deleted. Everything you added stays and keeps being projected. You will not be able to add more than the free version holds, or open the Pro features, until Pro is active again.

5. Links, shops and other websites

When you add something to your list from a link — pasted in, or shared to Runway from another app — Runway requests that web page to read the name, price and picture it publishes. Those pages belong to their owners, not to us. We do not control them, do not sell the products on them, and are not responsible for their content, prices, availability or accuracy. Check the price and details with the seller before you buy.

6. Your licence to use Runway

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Runway on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and the App Store's Usage Rules.

You agree not to:

copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or sublicense Runway;
reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract its source code, except where the law expressly allows it;
get around, disable or interfere with Runway Pro or any other feature restriction;
use Runway in any way that breaks the law or anyone else's rights.

7. Ownership

Runway — its software, design, artwork, text and names — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not give you any right to them other than the licence above.

What you enter into Runway is yours. When you share or export something from Runway, such as a picture of your list or a copy of your plan, you choose who receives it and you are responsible for sharing it.

8. Changes to Runway and to these terms

We may update Runway, and may change or stop offering features or the app itself. We may also update these terms. When we make a material change we will tell you in the app or on the App Store, and the "Last updated" date above will change. If you keep using Runway after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Runway is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that Runway will be uninterrupted or error-free, that its projections, dates, scores or tax estimates will be accurate, or that following its suggestions will produce any particular financial result.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, savings, profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Runway or your reliance on anything it shows — including purchases you make or put off, missed or late payments, overdraft or bank fees, interest, and credit charges.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims relating to Runway is limited to the amount you paid us for Runway Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Your consumer rights

Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract.

12. Ending

You can stop using Runway at any time by deleting it. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — cancel it in your Apple Account settings. We may suspend or end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14 continue after these terms end.

13. Apple and the App Store

If you downloaded Runway from Apple's App Store:

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Runway or its content.
Your licence is limited to using Runway on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Runway.
If Runway fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Runway.
Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to Runway or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
If anyone claims that Runway or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when using Runway.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Province/State, Country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer protection laws of the place you live require otherwise. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of [Province/State, Country], unless the law of the place you live gives you the right to bring it where you live.
